Towersey Morris is a mens cotswold morris side, based in the village of Towersey near Thame in Oxfordshire, England.
Two thousand and eleven got off to a good start - we danced at Hazlemere with Taeppas Tump on 1st January, only to leave our sticks behind. Although they'd been looked, somebody had backed into the state of the art bag and had rendered it useless. Luckily, one of our dancers, had a `spare' golf bag at the back of his garage. He's not our Bagman for nothing!
The last week in February provided us with two very different bookings. Our first was at a fund raiser for the London Wasps Supporters Club "More Than Just a Question of Sport." Two teams had to pit their wits, skills and brains against each other. In Round 9 the teams had to join in with a stick dance. The quizmaster begged us to be gentle with the six strapping rugby players, however it was our Squire who had to be substituted because of a blood injury!
Three days later we danced around a new, wet and extremely muddy orchard at Farnham Common. We performed the Mummers' Play, with the Green Man instead of Father Christmas. Toast dipped in cider was hung from the newly planted trees' branches it's supposed to increase the yield of apples. The Squire has his doubts!
